The Small Business Management Program plays a pivotal role for both new and existing businesses. Work on your business to improve systems, organizational structure, marketing approach and employee management with our business management programs and business advising.

Small Business Management (SBM) Program
This program makes building your business easy as it introduces and then reinforces key concepts over a one-to-three-year period. Learn with a cohort of peers, customized classes, and one-on-one coaching to identify, prioritize and achieve business goals. Receive the support, tools and resources needed to see immediate results. Learn to work smarter, not harder.

Employee Management Program
Offered as a stand-alone program, Employee Management is designed for business owners or managers in larger organizations who want to improve their skills and interaction with employees.

Food & Beverage Business Management
All Inclusive Training Focused on the Food & Beverage Industry from A to Z. This program module is a branch of the Small Business Management Program (FSBM) and has everything you need to know about operating a food and beverage small business. It covers business planning, food cost control and managing your menu in three, two-hour sessions.

QuickBooks® Software for Business – Concepts
Learn, from a QuickBooks Pro Advisor, how to use best use QuickBooks® software to better manage the business. Acquire the skills necessary to create a company file, record transactions and create the company books for reports and tax purposes.

No-cost Business Advising
Lane SBDC offers free personalized and confidential business advising services. Experienced business professionals utilize numerous valuable resources and tools to help new and existing business in reaching their goals.

Scale Oregon
This program is for companies with 10–99 employees, annual gross sales of $1,000,000 to $50,000,000, and that meet other criteria.

Global Trade
Training on a variety of topics involving international trade including global business management, trade finance, international logistics, international marketing, and legal and cultural issues.

Capital Access
Our Capital Access Team (CAT) provides loan packaging, financial analysis, finance strategies, and lender relations to businesses statewide.

Assistance with applying for federal grants for research and development (SBIR/STTR)
We assist qualified Oregon companies in the preparation of proposals for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards. SBIR/STTR are competitive federal grant programs that award funding to small businesses for research and development that have the potential to commercialize new technologies.

Food Innovation Center
The Food Innovation Center (FIC) is a unique urban Agricultural Experiment Station located in Portland, Oregon. As part of Oregon State University, the FIC serves the Northwest food industry and communities, as well as national and international businesses. The FIC has three areas of excellence: a product and process development team to help new and established entrepreneurs bring products to market; a full service consumer sensory testing laboratory; and a food safety hub for education and testing.

The Oregon Small Business Development Centers are partially funded by the US Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Oregon Business Development Department. Primary funding for the Lane SBDC is provided by Lane Community College.
